Symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19)
The main symptoms of coronavirus infections are usually:
- Secretion and runny nose.
- Cough.
- Fatigue.
- Sore throat and headache.
- Fever.
- Chills and malaise.
- Shortness of breath (breathlessness)
As with the influenza virus, individuals with immunosuppression or with chronic diseases may have the most severe symptoms and are the ones who can end up in respiratory failure.

Coronavirus Prevention (COVID-19)
To date, there is no vaccine or specific treatment available to combat coronavirus infection.
- The most effective way to avoid contracting the virus is to maintain basic hygiene mainly in the areas of the planet where cases have been recorded.
- It is convenient to wash your hands frequently.
- Avoid contact with people already infected, especially protecting eyes, nose and mouth.
- The use of masks is recommended only for those who present with symptoms or for people suffering from immunodeficiency.
- Avoid eating meat or other foods that are not properly cooked.
These precautions should be followed especially by those who suffer from diabetes, kidney failure, chronic pneumopathy or immunosuppression, since they have a higher risk of serious illness in case of coronavirus infection.
Coronavirus treatment
There is no COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine but milder cases can be overcome by following the same steps as a common cold.
If you have an acute respiratory infection, with coughs, sneezing and shortness of breath within 14 days before the onset of symptoms, you should stay home but contact 112. Health services will assess your health status.
In most cases the same is recommended as in a common cold. Wash your hands frequently, rest and drink plenty of fluids and the symptoms will disappear within a few days. To relieve sore throats or fever, both ibuprofen and acetaminophen can be consumed.
